Giovanni Granata is a first-year PhD student. He is supervised by Prof. Claudio Grillo (University of Milan) and co-supervised by Dr. Amata Mercurio (INAF-OAC).
His research topic is Extragalactic Astrophysics, with main focus on the study of strong gravitational lensing phenomena in the cores of massive galaxy clusters, which provide us with important insight into the properties of dark matter, the features of galaxies, and the values of the cosmological parameters.
He obtained his bachelor (2018) and master (2020) degrees in Milan, where he has been an Academic Senate member for 2.5 years.
He is currently teaching assistant for the courses “Thermodynamics” (BSc in Physics) and “Elements of Physics” (BSc in Foodservice Science and Technology).
